Reliquia Animation

Illustration, Lettering, Graphic Design

I illustrated this scene of a woman overlooking the sea and mountains. She controls the rise and set of the sun with her swift, flamenco-like movements and shares her music with the world. She's calm, resolved and powerful.

__

Do you know how hard it is to create when the world feels so evil? It's been so stiflingly and paralyzingly terrible from every angle that I forgot that I actually love it.

I forgot about dancing in Spain, eating in Italy, making tile in Morocco, hiking the Andes in Peru, revering shrines in Japan, and feeling the power of ancient deities Guatemala. I forgot how exhilarating it feels to be positively local when I pronounce words correctly, and then subsequently humbled when I get off at the wrong metro stop.

Listening to the LUX album by ROSALÍA, I remembered the world I once fell in love with. That world is still there, and I’m hopeful for a time where the sun will rise again.
